This Privacy Policy describes Covanta Energy and its current and future affiliates (“Covanta,” “we,” “our” or “us”) privacy practices with respect to the information we collect through this and any other websites operated by Covanta (the “Websites”). Your use of the Websites is subject to this Privacy Policy and our Website Terms and Conditions.

Collection of Information

Personally Identifiable Information

We only collect personally identifiable information about you through the Websites when you voluntarily provide that information to us, including, but not limited to, when you provide payment information for services or contact us with questions or comments. The personally identifiable information that we may collect includes, but is not limited to, your name, credit card number, credit card expiration date, credit card CVV number, physical address, email address, and phone number. We may also collect a password to authenticate customers for some of our Websites.

Non-Personally Identifiable Information

We may collect non-personally identifiable information when you visit the Websites, such as your IP address, browser version, operating system, and the website you passed through to reach the Websites.

We may collect this non-personally identifiable information through the use of “cookies” and similar tools. A “cookie” is a small, text-only file that is placed on your hard drive to allow us to recognize you if you return to the Websites using the same computer and browser. You can set your browser to notify you when you receive a cookie, giving you a chance to decide whether to accept it or not. Alternatively, you can set your browser to block cookies, and you can remove existing cookies.

Each browser is different, so you will need to check your browser’s “Help” menu to learn how to change your cookie preferences. Although you may elect to block cookies, by doing so, you may not be able to experience the full functionality of the Websites.

Use of Information

We (including our affiliates) may use the information we collect to process payments that you submit via the Websites, respond to your questions, comments, and requests, contact you for marketing or service-related purposes, or improve the functionality of the Websites.

Sharing of Information

We may share the information we collect with third-party service providers, including, but not limited to, third-party payment processors who facilitate the processing of the payments you submit via the Websites.

In addition, to the extent permitted by law, any information collected through the Websites or concerning its use, may be disclosed to government authorities or third parties pursuant to a legal request, subpoena, or other legal process, or to comply with government reporting obligations applicable to Covanta. We may also use or disclose your information as permitted by law to collect debts, fight fraud, or protect the rights or property of Covanta, our customers, the Websites and its users, or third parties, or when we otherwise believe in good faith that the law requires it. In the event of a corporate change in control resulting from, for example, a sale to, or merger with, another entity, or in the event of a sale of assets or a bankruptcy, Covanta reserves the right to transfer your information to the new party in control or the party acquiring assets and use of the information will be subject to either this or the new party’s privacy policy.

Security

We maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to help us protect your personally identifiable information. However, data security threats are many and varied and no security systems are impenetrable. We cannot guarantee the security of the Websites or our databases, nor can we guarantee that the information you supply will not be intercepted while being transmitted to us over the Internet.

Links to Other Websites

The Websites may contain links to other websites, including websites operated by other entities. When you click on these links you are taken to a website that is operated by another entity. Any information collected by those websites is subject to those entities’ privacy policies, and we recommend that you check the privacy policies of those websites before providing any information to them.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We reserve the right, in our sole discretion, to modify, alter, or otherwise update this Privacy Policy at any time, and you agree to be bound by such modifications, alterations, or updates. To make you aware of material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will post the date the Privacy Policy was last revised on the bottom of this page. We will not materially alter the use of personally identifiable information about you that we have already collected without contacting you directly and seeking your affirmative consent. Your continued use of the Websites constitutes your agreement to this Privacy Policy and any updates.

Your California Privacy Rights

Users who reside in California and who have provided their personally identifiable information to Covanta may request information about our disclosures of certain categories of personally identifiable information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. Such requests must be submitted to us in writing at the address in the “How Do You Contact Us?” section below.

This request may be made no more than once per calendar year. We reserve the right to not respond to requests submitted other than to the address specified below.
